Jobing Description
SUMMARY
The Distribution Dispatcher coordinates activities of drivers engaged in receiving emergency or non-emergency calls, dispatching personnel and equipment, and providing instructions to callers for daily work assignments. This position reports directly to the Distribution Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans, assigns, and directs daily operations through driving staff as measured by department Bid Sheet Schedule and Dispatch Sheet.
Prepares works schedules to ensure that sufficient shift personnel are available for work load demands as measured by on time departure reports and daily schedule coverage.
Assists in training drivers on Cadec on-board computer and hand held scanner as measured by department training guidelines and DOT compliance rules.
Coordinate the assignment and maintenance of all equipment including tractors and trailers as measured by DOT compliance laws on safety and company policies regarding equipment maintenance and safety.
Completes departmental assignments as measured by department goals.
Participates in meetings and training programs as measured by goals and objectives set by the Distribution Manager.
Assists in training drivers to work within safety guidelines as measured by the department handbook, Shamrock policies and DOT laws.
Ensure daily route totals meet department budget, as measured through the monthly route total summary.
Create and implement routing scenarios that meet business needs, while ensuring efficient routing methodologies are used, as measured through the department monthly miles and route totals.
Tests, inspects, and operates radio, telephone, computer and other equipment required for daily operations, as measure by department electronic monitoring systems and goals or objects set by Distribution Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must be able to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position which are written in English. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Roadnet, Adage, Allpoints, Lotus Notes Database software; Explorer Internet software; Excel and Access Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
